WanderJapan is an independent travel blog focused on Japan's coastal destinations — specifically the beaches, islands, and seaside towns that most English-language guides overlook. We're a small team of writers and photographers who have collectively spent years exploring Japan's coastline, from the well-known resorts of Okinawa to the nameless coves of the Japan Sea coast.

Why We Started This

A few years ago, we tried to plan a beach trip to Japan and discovered something frustrating: almost all the English-language content about Japan's beaches was either outdated, copied from other blogs, or written by people who had clearly never been to the places they were describing. We figured the best way to fix this was to do it ourselves — visit every beach we write about, eat at every restaurant we recommend, and share what we actually experienced, good and bad.

Our Approach

Every article on this site is based on firsthand experience. We don't publish AI-generated content, we don't copy from other sources, and we don't accept payment for positive reviews. If a beach is overcrowded, we'll say so. If the food at a popular spot is disappointing, we'll tell you that too. Our loyalty is to you, the reader, not to any tourism board or hotel chain.
